The Landing. It’s the day before my first birthday with Scared Of Salad and here’s where I am. Stories are coming together. I am starting to feel excited about bringing my sculptures, paintings and stories together.
I started imagining some story lines with last week’s Soil Scientist. Is it from another planet? Does it visit us? How would it appear? How would humans react? So, using my unfinished model, I started making an environment that felt like a city at night. After a lot of collaging and painting, I wanted to see how the creature would fit into it. It was explosive and I really loved it, so this piece emerged. Lots of energy!
I haven’t learned to pose my characters yet, so I still have some stiffness in everything, but I am learning about posing now. It’s pretty tricky. So, to get me through this piece, I photoshopped his arms a little bit to make it seem more natural, but still confident and “guardian-like.” I have a ways to go with the work, but I will get there.
Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of Scared of Salad! Expect to see my Year in Review and another year of even better work as I develop my stories and creatures. It’s going to be exciting!
Thanks for all of your support and participation, Crouton Club and Friends! You have made the past year one of the best.
